Wilverley Trading Estate

Following a competitive tender process, we were instructed to carry out a comprehensive refurbishment of Unit 1 Wilverley Trading Estate, Bristol. Works included a full scaffold and internal netting to the underside of the asbestos roof. The roof was then removed by specialist sub-contractors in sections and replaced with a new Kingspan insulated sheet roof and roof lights. One gutter was completely renewed and the other was retained and relined due to adjoining the adjacent unit. Parapet walls received new cappings and cladding details internally. Windows to the side elevation were overhauled and redecorated while those to the front elevation were renewed with double glazed powdercoated aluminium units including a new opening formed to receive a trade counter style entranceway at the front of the building. The cladding was resprayed using a Giromax coating and various brick work and repointing repairs were completed. The roller shutter door was refurbished and redecorated including the removal and replacement of the bottom 1.5m in order to remove a pedestrian wicket door. Internally, the office and WC areas were fully stripped out and remodelled, including complete rewire including new power, lighting and heating. Walls were made good and fire stopping completed. New suspended ceilings were installed, replacement internal fire doors, full redecorations, vinyl and carpet tile floor coverings fitted. WCs received new ventilation, water heaters and sanitary ware. Space heating was removed from the warehouse and electrical installation regularised. Some making good was carried out to walls and floors and the area received a full redecoration including a specialist epoxy resin floor coating. Challenges included inclement weather, managing overspray when decorating the cladding and a site within a busy Bristol trading estate with neighbouring trade counter. The specified works were successfully completed within the programme.
